Your Questions About Pictures Of Jesus

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Susan asks…

How come in most pictures Jesus is nailed to a cross, not tied like the others?

In many pictures of Jesus‘s crucifixion, Jesus is nailed, which to us is an original way, however, the Romans did used to tie people instead, but why did they nail Jesus, why?

mikey answers:

He was nailed to the cross, that is what the Bible says. He was not nailed through the palm of the hands, but through his wrists. In actuality, helping to support the body was a method of torture by tying the hands, the person lasted longer which increased the suffering and the length of time it took to die. So nailing him was more merciful, although it sounds more cruel.

Linda asks…

how did religions began to draw pictures Jesus and everybody else how they are in books and websites?

for example you search Jesus Christ on google and u see a picture of Him. how did they come up with that if they never saw Him,Virgin Mary and the Saints??

mikey answers:

Any painting or drawing of an object, location, or person is created by an artist using what is known as “artistic license” which gives the artist the ability to use their own interpretation. For instance, we know from the Biblical record that Jesus was a Jew and likely had a darker (olive) complexion, yet many artists portray him as being fair- or light-skinned.

Bottom line, for people for whom there is no photographic record, artists use the image they have created in their own mind, or, they may use a model who impresses them to represent the person.

Mandy asks…

Do Muslims get offended at pictures of Jesus?

I know they don;t like pictures of Muhammad, but I think they believe and accept Jesus as a prophet as well. So do they get offended at all the pictures of Jesus out there? Will you see Jesus pictures in Muslim countries?

Please no jokes.

mikey answers:

Depends on the person but muslims (like myself) r taught to respect other religions.. Personall its not offensive to me bcuz christianity is a different religion.. Different teachings.. So therefor, nothing to take to heart

Sandra asks…

How come when you search for pictures for Jesus they are mostly from Mormons?

The pictures are from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I really like the pictures they have of Jesus. I was wondering why is it that they are mostly from Mormons. Is it because they are better artists or more creative?

mikey answers:

I’m sure we’re not any more creative than any other group. There are just a couple of insanely talented Mormons who’ve painted some truly beautiful pictures of Christ, and those get passed around a lot. If you’re interested in that sort of thing, go to Deseret Book and check out the paintngs. As I said, truly beautiful.

Jenny asks…

When people hang pictures of Jesus on their walls do you put one in the bathroom?

I had a relative who had jesus and mary pictures in her restroom, is that right or wrong?

mikey answers:

I have seen pictures of Jesus,a crucifix, a statue of Buddha, and a Virgin Mary in bathrooms. I find it very odd.

Your Questions About Photoshop Tutorials

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Michael asks…

Photoshop tutorials…………..?

I have adobe photoshop elements 8 and have been looking for tutorials to try some new creative things but all the ones I have foudn you have to pay a membership to the site to look at them. Does anyone know of anywhere you can find them for free? I would prefer written tutorials, not videos if possible. Thanks!
The thing is, I want to experiment with some creative things…I already know all the basics, I want to really explore the creative possibilties of PS. I have tried library books, amybe I just haven’t gotten the right one yet, but they have only had the basics.

mikey answers:

Congratulations! The first thing to do is to go to sites like Deviant Art and look at what other people have done. Next you might consider installing some plugins/actions to expand Elements’ functionality. You’ve reached the point where you can start trying to adapt Photoshop tutorials to Elements. At first, it’ll be difficult but as you learn more and your skill with the program improves, you’ll find that there’s almost nothing you can’t do with Elements.

First, Alibony has a blog where you’ll see and learn to do things with Elements you won’t find anywhere else. And, yes, a number of the newer tutorials are video. It’s the way of the world today;-(

http://alibony.com/wordpress/

Alibony also has 7 pages of tutorials

http://alibony.com/pse/index.php

The older lessons are on the last few pages and there are fewer videos among them.

Here are some Photoshop tutorials. Look them over and pick out a few techniques to try to do in Elements. If you get stuck on something, ask it here on YA and include a link to the tutorial and tell us what step you’re stuck on.

http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/41-nicest-photoshop-photo-effects-photoshop-tutorials/

You also might consider joining a forum. This is where you’ll start learning about workarounds and they’re great places to ask questions and get answers from Elements users who know what they’re talking about.

There’s also a friendly and good Elements forum in Yahoo Groups.

Have fun.

Laura asks…

Photoshop Tutorials?

Hi People!
I am looking for a good and professional free website that includes photoshop tutorials..Because i’m kinda fed up form those weak tutorials in random sites.
I really need a good website, Thx All !

mikey answers:

For digital art tutorials I really like Imagine FX http://www.imaginefx.com in that they’re not only just about the software but also about how artists work and artistic ability. They’re on the Workshops page and most are Photoshop tutorials but there are Painter and other software. The forum is also really active about art (kind of like ConceptArt.org with critiques and art projects, etc) and Imagine FX magazine always has really good tutorials.

The magazine also comes with video DVDs recorded by artists featured (there’s only a couple on their youtube site http://youtube.com/profile?user=ImagineFXTube ). Everything is free on the site and the magazine is about 15$ american (it’s published in the UK but available in places like Borders.)

Sandy asks…

photoshop tutorials?

I learned how to use photoshop a few years back but never had it at home, I just got it at home when I bought a computer from a distant friend who had it installed. He didn’t give me the booklet and all that come with the program, where can i find simple tutorials to remind me how to use all the tools and all.
There is so much with this program i know it would take forever for me to just ‘remember’ it all.

I can’t remember the exact version i have, i know its a newer one. (not on that computer ATM)

mikey answers:

U can find a photoshop bible in pdf on many p2p sites … Like isohunt ..

Robert asks…

What is the best site of free photoshop tutorials?

I want tyo learn new techniques on photoshop, but it seems I cant find it. Is there any site offering the best beginner tutorials for photoshop?

mikey answers:

Justin Seeley has great Free videos called Quicktips. You can also subscribe to his video podcast through iTunes for free. There is a good selection and they don’t drag on like some tutorials I watched. Direct and to the point.

To subscribe to the free video podcasts just go to the iTunes Store click on Power Search select the type as Podcasts and then type in Justin Seeley for the Author.

Your Questions About Pictures Of Chickenpox

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

Lizzie asks…

Where can I find a picture of the chickenpox?

I have looked on everywhere, but I cant find a picture of the actual scientific drawing of chickenpox. I don’t want a picture of a kid or adult with the chickenpox but the actual diagram of the chickenpox.

mikey answers:

This is shingles (what they usually call chickenpox for adults) http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.consumersresearchcncl.org/Healthcare/Dermatologists/images/A_Course_of_Shingles_diagram.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.consumersresearchcncl.org/Healthcare/Dermatologists/derma_chapter2.html&usg=__NpHfmiDisSsDMgqhZO5TLqEAWYw=&h=473&w=374&sz=26&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=zVU5awM3A8n1wM:&tbnh=138&tbnw=109&ei=bWFPTYSNMcz2gAf9qJn7Dw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dscientific%2Bdiagram%2Bof%2Bchickenpox%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1440%26bih%3D696%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=360&oei=bWFPTYSNMcz2gAf9qJn7Dw&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=32&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=70&ty=83

Donna asks…

mikey answers:

I also could not view your pictures. If they have a rash looking like blisters and it’s accompanied by flu like symptoms, it could be chickepox. Get the kids to avoid eating eggs, eggplant and other highly allergenic foods so that the blisters will not become more itchy. I wish you the best.

Susan asks…

am i sick? what is this? pictures included?

Am i sick? what is this?
I have this rash (pictures in link below) for the last 4 days and its beginning to spread. it is small bumps on a red background to the rash. I think it might be Shingles but im not sure. i had chickenpox as a kid. it is just under my right breast and it is very sore to touch. now as of today (photos taken yesterday) the red bumps are beginning to turn a slight yellow colour and the skin is becoming tight,
addition information: i have sporadic psoriasis but that is mainly on my head, i know this is not psoriasis beacause it is sore to touch
i do have a very picky diet eating mostly potatoes and sausages and drinking milk, so i am anemic. but other than that i am in quite good health.

mikey answers:

That really looks like Shingles to me. I had it a couple of years ago. This rash can show up mostly on the torso and only on one side of the body. A doctor can give you a medication for herpes that will help to clear it up.

William asks…

I wonder if I have chickenpox?

Last week, what I assumed to be lymph nodes on my neck seemed to be swollen, so I went to the doctor. He took some x-rays and diagnosed me with ‘straight neck’, saying it was a muscle issue. I got some medication (anti-inflammatory) and some heating pads with the same medication.

Shortly after they applied the first heating pad at the clinic and I took the first dose of medication, I started noticing that I was breaking out. I do get one or two pimples sometimes so I didn’t think much of it until the next day when it got to be a really bad rash. I went back the next morning to the doctor and he didn’t seem to think much of it until I told him it was certainly NOT normal for my whole face to be covered in blisters! He then thought it was an allergic reaction to the medication, and hooked me up to an IV for something that would ‘stop the allergic reaction’ and then when that was finished made me breathe from a nebulizer for a short time and then sent me home with some ointment. I had a mild fever and mild sore throat at the doctor’s office.

Perhaps I’m feeling too hasty but I hoped I would feel just a little better, but a day after that it just feels worse, and I’m sure more bumps have appeared! They are so itchy.

I’ve searched long and hard for pictures of allergic reactions like mine, and when I thought I found one it turned out to be a picture of chicken pox! My sores are like little blisters, some have burst and made little craters of sorts. They are all over my face, scalp, eyelids and stomach, but haven’t hit my legs just yet.

I’m 26 and had all my vaccinations and follow-ups, but I do work with kids (I’m a teacher and often in hand to hand contact with kids, though I haven’t noticed any with visible symptoms of chicken pox) I’m wondering if it was, after all, swollen lymph nodes due to something like chicken pox that was just misdiagnosed? I’m not one to self-diagnose or doubt doctors, but something seems awfully odd about the whole situation.
And after a few days, would it still be worth it to go to the doctor for chicken pox, or do I suffer it out at home?

mikey answers:

You are probably right about the chicken pox. Allergic reactions don’t create blisters that turn into crusty red bumps. The doc’s approach seems almost bizarre given the symptoms. Maybe you do have straight neck, but it seems more likely the rash is chicken pox and not an allergic reaction to medicine.

Your Questions About Imageshack

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Laura asks…

Imageshack?

I’m always on here and I have to say, some of the cutest clothes are on imageshack! But I have no idea how to get on there,…. and yes I did try imageshack.us

Imageshack.us worked for me

Steven asks…

imageshack?

how do i search for people and their images,by them not even knowing.i have a pic of image shack how could i get the user name or somthing??please help

mikey answers:

When you upload an image, you are given the site reference
for your image.

Imageshack does not allow you to search.
All information is personal.

Ken asks…

How do I download an imageshack picture?

On my friends myspace, there is a picture that I want to download (the full size). When I click on the picture, it brings me to imageshack.us, so he uploaded it using Imageshack. How can I download the full size picture and save it on my computer?
I want to download a better quality (bigger) picture. I could just save the small picture but I want to download a bigger version (I know there is one).

mikey answers:

You have to purchase it. Some websites will let you download the full-size picture for like a couple of bucks. I would just ask the friend to email the picture to you.

Thomas asks…

Is it possible to track down someone who uploaded something onto imageshack?

See I used to talk to this person a while ago for 4 years!! And his account got deleted, he made me a banner but you don’t need an account on imageshack, is it possible to, I don’t know track them down by the link or the thing they uploaded?

mikey answers:

No, I’m afraid it’s not.

Jenny asks…

Can i change the URL to view images on imageshack?

due to unmovable filters on my computer, i am unable to look at images hosted on imageshack. is there any way to view these images, by maybe changing the URL, dunno if this is possible but any suggestions would be great.

mikey answers:

Hi,

You can try the IP address of the website.
For http://imageshack.us you can use http://208.94.2.41/

so if your URL

http://imageshack.us/your_image.jpg

you can enter this

http://208.94.2.41/your_image.jpg

to find other IP address http://www.selfseo.com/find_ip_address_of_a_website.php

Good luck!

mikey answers:

This is an easy thing to do. Simply click and hold onto the action that you want to delete and drag it to the trash can icon at the lower right corner of the actions window.

Susan asks…

Using purchased photoshop actions for professional photoshoots?

If I bought some photoshop actions for a specific look for a set of photos, say for a wedding shoot, would it be ethical to do that?

It’s not really your own edit creation, but it is your own photo. I’m on the fence about buying and using photoshop actions for professional shoots.

mikey answers:

Off course it is ethical.

They are tools that you use.

You use a camera you did not make yourself, you use a computer you did not make yourself, all you are doing is using the various tools at your disposal.
