Got to slow the speed to lowest setting… Sometimes it takes a really special camera with a continous shutter to get good pics. Sometimes taking digital video of it and then getting a video editing software program you can take frame by frame shots from it.

George asks…

find pictures of snakes that are native to state of Delaware?

I am familiar with most of our snakes but, this little beauty has me baffled. She is slightly gray with perfect matching little black squares. She has a red tongue on top and black on bottom and to top things off it looks like she has gold lame stitching along her sides. Can anyone identify this snake for me? I really want to see a picture of her If one is available.

mikey answers:

I would say the opposite. USE your flash for the best chance of stopping the blur. I would even say to keep the room lighting just adequate for your focus system to function. This way, the only real lighting source on the snake will be the burst of the flash and this will give you an EFFECTIVE shutter opening of well under 1/1000th of a second – the duration of timethat the flash is actually firing. If you use the room light, you will be using 1/30 or even slower, I am sure. This will not stop the action. Pre-focus at the point where you are going to have the snake strike by holding the shutter button down half-way and then anticipate the strike and push the button as SOON as the snake moves – if not before.
